A Look Back at Our Motherhood Mini Session at The Bunny Hive

Motherhood moves fast, doesn’t it? One moment, you’re rocking a newborn through sleepless nights, and the next, you’re chasing a giggling toddler who refuses to sit still. Somewhere in the middle of all the beautiful chaos, it’s so easy for mamas to slip out of the frame—to be the one always behind the camera, capturing but never captured.

That’s why I believe so deeply in celebrating mothers not just with photos, but through them.
And on April 26th, we had the absolute joy of doing just that during our Motherhood Mini Session Event at The Bunny Hive in Raleigh.

It was a morning filled with connection, laughter, a few happy tears—and a whole lot of love.

Before we get into it, let me introduce myself. I’m Kelly—a Raleigh-based family photographer and a mama myself. I’m endlessly inspired by the small, everyday moments that tell a family’s real story. Whether you’re feeling excited, nervous, or just curious about booking a session, know that I’m here to walk you through it every step of the way. You can reach out to me here anytime—I would truly love to connect with you.

Now, let’s talk aboutmotherhood mini sessions—and why it’s such a special way to honor the season you’re in.

The Motherhood Mini Session: A Morning Just for You

Partnering with the sweet team at The Bunny Hive, we created a morning that was all about mamas being celebrated, pampered, and poured into—just as they pour into their little ones every day.

Here’s a Look at What Our Motherhood Mini Session Included:

  • A 10-minute Motherhood Portrait Session with a stunning hand-painted backdrop, adorned with soft pastel floral arches by Bloom Everlasting. It was dreamy, fresh, and the perfect setting to capture the gentle, joyful spirit of motherhood. Each session included 3 beautiful digital images to keep forever (with the option to add more for those who fell in love with their full gallery—which, honestly, most did!).

  • Professional lips and lashes by His Light Artistry, giving every mama a soft, fresh glow. Mini makeup sessions happened about 20 minutes before portraits, creating a relaxed moment for mamas to feel polished, radiant, and photo-ready without feeling overdone.

  • Exclusive access to the KBP Client Wardrobe for both mamas and littles. Flowy dresses, cozy textures, and neutral tones helped create soft, timeless images—and made getting ready so easy and fun!

  • Muffins, Mimosas, and Crafts with Mom, hosted by The Bunny Hive, offered a joyful, relaxed start to the morning. Mamas and littles enjoyed a little bit of sweetness, a little bit of creativity, and a whole lot of memory-making before stepping into their session.

  • Access to The Bunny Hive’s indoor and outdoor play areas, giving little ones space to explore and play while mamas soaked up all the special moments of the day.

  • A special gift bag to celebrate each mama—a small but heartfelt reminder that you are seen, loved, and so worthy of being celebrated.

What Made This Motherhood Mini Session So Special

If you’ve ever worried that a mini session might feel rushed or too posed, this day was proof that it doesn’t have to be that way.

Our motherhood mini sessions were slow, thoughtful, and full of genuine connection. Instead of stiff smiles or rigid poses, we captured sweet forehead kisses, belly laughs, whispered secrets, and the tender, everyday ways mamas love their babies.

Throughout each session, I guided gently—offering little prompts here and there—but mostly, I encouraged mamas to simply be with their little ones. It wasn’t about performing for the camera. It was about savoring the moment, exactly as it unfolded.

And those real, unfiltered moments? They’re the ones that tell the most beautiful stories.

What Mamas Wore for Their Sessions

The outfits were every bit as dreamy as the day itself.

Soft neutrals, muted pastels, and cozy textures like linen and cotton kept the focus right where it belonged—on the connection between mamas and their little ones. Many chose pieces from the KBP Client Wardrobe, full of flowing dresses and timeless styles that felt effortless and beautiful.

Some mamas brought special, sentimental touches too—a favorite blanket, a treasured necklace, a tiny stuffed animal held tight in little hands. These small details added so much heart to the images, making them even more personal and meaningful.

After the Session: Memories That Last

Once the sessions wrapped, each mama received a carefully edited gallery of high-resolution images within a few weeks.

Every image was hand-edited with so much love—preserving the soft tones, organic light, and raw emotion that unfolded during each mini session.

Each session included three beautiful digital images, with the option to add more (and many mamas did, because choosing just three? Nearly impossible when the memories are this sweet!).

These weren’t just portraits. They became tiny, precious time capsules—glimpses of a season that moves far too quickly, and moments that their babies will one day hold close.

Celebrate Yourself, Mama

You show up for your children every single day—with love, patience, strength, and tenderness. You kiss the boo-boos, calm the storms, cheer the loudest at milestones big and small. You are the steady, soft place they call home.

If you were part of this event—thank you.

Thank you for showing up, for trusting me to tell your story, and for stepping into the frame even when it felt a little vulnerable.

Motherhood deserves to be celebrated, not just on special days, but every day.

You are seen. You are loved. You are doing an incredible job.

If your heart has been nudging you to get in the frame—to capture the beauty of this season while it’s still unfolding—I would love to have you join us for a future motherhood mini session. These events tend to fill up quickly each year, so if you think you might want to join us next time, you can add your name to the 2026 waitlist to stay in the loop!
